Homemade Bagels; We were watching a lot of Great British Bakeoff at the time and I was having bagels for breakfast every morning at work, which I think is the reason he got into making them. Extremely fresh and delicious, I would just eat them right off the tray with nothing else.
Chocolate, cinnamon chai or Chai, cinammon hot chocolate, July 2026
His chai is amazing enough, but one day Nova brought home some Colombian chocolate and prepared it the chai method with black tea, milk, and fresh Sri Lankan ceylon cinnamon. Extremely delicious especially as I was feeling terribly sick that day.

One of my favourite comfort foods that honestly makes me nostalgic. Sauce made by scratch with fresh noodles from our local East Asian ingredients focused store.
Jerk Chicken Pasta, Summer 2025
Jerk chicken pasta. I think this is when we were getting really into organic groceries, the chicken was delciious. Whole recipe was inspired by the local Jamaican place we go to.
Patlıcan meftune, June 2026
For our 5th Anniversary, I gifted Nova a Turkish cookbook and this was one of the first dishes he tried out, substituting lamb for goat. It was AMAZING. As of when I'm writing this, tommorrow is the final serving I have left. It is such a delicately balanced taste with such strong, simple flavour that bursts in your mouth. Incredibly tender meat that flavours the vegetables while it's cooked, resulting in a delicious, wonderfully textured stew.
Goat Palao, Early 2026
Over the years Nova has become an expert at rice dishes, including palao. It's a good week for me whenever he decides to pull this one out. Flavourful and absolutely delicious.
